First of all, I hope everyone had a great and safe 4th of July. Since this is Sunday, and I was unable to post last evening, I've decided to post a video, and below PLEASE read, as I have some words, that perhaps might *sink* in. Maybe although in my minds eye, probably will swoop over somes head.
Redneck Yacht Club~Craig Morgan
So as above, is a video that should (but won't) *stop* the attacking on hillbillies and rednecks, as Shadow likes to refer to himself.
So below, is a picture that is used in reference to us, for apparently living in the South. Which I might add, are several here on Blogstream. I really like the picture, as it does look like some people who were *born* and raised in ALL the towns in the South, and I must add we've lived here on and off, but in total, it's been 13 years, and don't have any plans to leave the *beautiful* mountains. So here's the picture, that, I guess, is suppose to hurt our feelings in which ever way it was tended. Sorry about your luck, cuz the South, especially, is SO beautiful in ALL 4 seasons.
Now I would like to post some really great blogs, for when some are not having to defend themselves, have very informative, thought provoking, words of wisdom, as well as news stories that are interesting to read. This is not only for those who post videos on Fridays and Saturdays, but great posts ALL through the week.
Crone, you're a beautiful person. And I'm not just saying that because you listed me. I mean you have that zest for life. Good post. I loved the video, and think he was pokin' fun at himself. I'm a mid west dude, with a redneck heart. If it looks like fun, try it! I think that is the philosophy of the redneck. I know they always seem to have a robust feel for life. have a fun day, and happy 4th, oh I guess that's over! Joe

Thanks for the thumb ups!
Stereotyping is soooo evil (now that is strong word, isn't it!). I think it is a short-handed way to label someone and then think we have said that is all there is too say about them. It is very unfair!
Each person should be known for who he or she is and not painted by the same brush because they come from a certain region of the world.
well said!
(By the way, what if the person is from that group and makes fun of his or her own group - I am thinking here of the Mexican comedian, George Lopez, who makes fun of Mexicans. I suppose if you are a member of the group, that would be different. I am not Mexican so for me to tell jokes on Mexicans is totally out of line!!!!
by AZRON (PM , CC ) on Sunday July 6, 2008 @ 3:38 PM
Crone - that video did give me some smiles but I also must say that there is some creativity there with some of the floating devices - as to the experiences those are shared around the world I am afraid. I trust that you had a great weekend and the week ahead will be one with blessing, June
Our dear friend, Jeff is an African American...he and my fiance, Mr. H are like Carbon Copies in regards to their personalities and their geeky-ness! And they've been friends for more than a decade. They are like brothers...BUT there is one place, Mr. H can't go...Jeff calls us his n's [ending with an 'a'] (you know what I'm talking about!) That always makes us feel uncomfortable and we're supposed to call him ours. Ah.....no thank you! Bad karma! Like Ron says, maybe if you are part of whatever group you are making fun of, it's o.k. For example, a few weeks ago, I mentioned that children with special needs could be pains in the asses! (Secret's blog) BUT before you get toooo upset with me...I've been a mom of a special need's child for 19 years now! I KNOW first hand! And how many of us parents have called our own kids...PAINS IN THE ASSES!!! Again, if you are part of the group, you get a little leeway I spose! Is it always the right thing to do,...nah, but it's human nature I guess!
Just thought I'd throw that out...
O.k., so hey, thanks for including me in on the blogs of interest. I just took my cue off of Pioneers suggestion,...blog about what you like! I kinda' went as far as I wanted to with the personal blog approach and finally opted to blog about my passion, my life long hobby...astrology. And I'll do that until I get another wacky idea! But I appreciate the nod. Who doesn't like a fuzzy stroke now and again!

Are you sure them folks are from the south they look like a bunch of Red Neck Canadians I guess we are all the same Thanks Crone...... If it were not for the friends that I have here on the stream I wouldn't be here. SO I THANK YOU.......... Gloria
joe, Thanks for the nice comment! being a redneck, is perceived differently by many different people. Am I ashamed of being called a redneck, HELL no, just watch the Gretchen Wilson Redneck Woman video. The major philosophy, I believe is to have a good time at ALL ventures of life. Although there are some who do go to far, I love it, the fun and excitement of change. I'm glad your pleased with me putting up a link, as you always have enjoyable posts.
by Crone (PM , CC ) on Sunday July 6, 2008 @ 8:01 PM
ron, People NOW and have ALWAYS stereotyped what they don't understand. I don't see that change among anyone, anytime soon. I am what I am, no butts about that. I just wanted to make the statement loud and clear on my post. The redneck pictures and slang doesn't bother me as some think it should. I'm also glad that you were alright with me adding you to my list. Your posts are very thought provoking, as well as intelligence for the soul.

I had the opportunity to visit Florida for a convention, and then to Valdosta GA. to the home of the family of the lady I went to Florida with. I have to say I entered a new and very refreshing world. Being in the deep South was something I had never experienced and I have to say would go again in a heartbeat. Be proud you sweet southern Lady..
by Granny (PM , CC ) on Sunday July 6, 2008 @ 8:14 PM
that is quite an interesting list, Crone. Yes there are tons of interesting reads on any given day around Blogstream. Most of those people I already knew, but a few new ones I didn't. Following your links, I did notice that that Gypsy Rose is no longer blogging. Maybe she and others might consider returning at some point.
by Bella (PM , CC ) on Sunday July 6, 2008 @ 8:40 PM
that was very kind of you Crone to add me to your list..I feel honored and humbled...thank you so much..hope you and Shadow had a great week-end...I'm as hillybilly and redneck as you can get...but I'm still on my feet... ... ..you all have a good one...
by Cracker (PM , CC ) on Sunday July 6, 2008 @ 8:53 PM
Rubble, I know exactly what name you're referring to. From living in the town I grew up in, that's what they call each other, but if someone whose not in that group says/calls someone that it's not taken whitely/ lightly
Onto ALL of your really awesome creativity, and poignant posts, that is why I wanted to add your name to the list. I', glad you're alright with it.
by Crone (PM , CC ) on Sunday July 6, 2008 @ 9:30 PM
Anex, The feeling is mutual, you have many wonderful posts. Hubby, (Shadow) always reads your posts and also thought that you have a great, informative blog.

Hey Crone- catching up with ya. I have been in North Carolina and Tennessee for the 4th of July Cherokee Pow-Wow. Just got home tonight and got your message. Thank you for adding me to the list. It is much appreciated girlfriend.
I will check out the others too and I am sending you love and bear hugs! Hope your holiday was spectacular!

Granny, I live in the Smoky Mountains, of course, but on the NC side. It's beautiful and the pace of life is nice and slow, very refreshing indeed. The South has VERY many special people, who have some interesting stories, the older the person, the more fascinating the story. I would NEVER leave this place, it's too spiritual. Thanks for stopping by, and I added your blog as I looked over it. I like reading and commenting on your posts. You always have something interesting to comment upon.
by Crone (PM , CC ) on Sunday July 6, 2008 @ 9:48 PM
Crone,
I think you are right - when we don't understand it is easier to label!!! And of course then we don't have to do the hard work of listening and trying to understand.
I appreciate the affirmation - about being intelligence for the soul

Crone, Thank you for including my blogs on your list of many blogs of interest on blogstream. I enjoy reading your blog and many other blogs you listed. I'm getting back into posting and commenting after a break, I read many more blogs than I comment on but that will be changing soon. Thanks again!
Thank you very much. I just write what is rattling around. I did enjoy my visit to the South very much. Yes, the pace of life and the respect were both things that impressed me completely.
by Granny (PM , CC ) on Sunday July 6, 2008 @ 10:04 PM
my dear bella, how odd to find you leaving a comment here! more has returned than you seem to know about, eh. I do remember how you deleted my comment that I made of somewhat in defense, of your other little blog friends stirring that proverbial pot of ya'lls. but anyway Gypsy is around, she has taken comments in the last 3 days, and has stopped by here, if that's even a concern of yours. and while i'm on you as a subject, why don't you take yours, Lolas, Johnnies comments and leave them at your other teenie, tiny, insignificant group that you fit in so VERY well with! i do believe that you know EXACTLY what i speak of. you people? go into a blog and usually you're an unwanted guest, *as now* and leave your snooty remarks. as for me, i could care at ALL, i just wanted people to see who/what you're really ALL about. SO THANKS!!!
by Crone (PM , CC ) on Sunday July 6, 2008 @ 10:17 PM
Cracker, I really put you on the list because you have always got something interesting that you found to post, and freely writing about your family,as I do from time to time. The pictures you put up that perfectly match your post are beautiful. Plus you have been a friend to both Shadow and I since we've been here.
by Crone (PM , CC ) on Sunday July 6, 2008 @ 10:44 PM
Polar, How interesting you being in Cherokee over the weekend, as you were only right over the mountain from where I live. My mother and I went to a Pow-Wow 2years ago. As you know they have many different tribes, therefore each wear their own regatta. I have some beautiful pictures, I hope you and yours had a wonderful time.
You are very welcome, I added you because you ALWAYS have really good, uplifting, and informative posts. I also remember the great advice you've given me, as well as links that had to do with my daughters dilemma. SO Thank You!!

ron, There are many times I came away from reading a post of yours, and it had been on my mind for the rest of the day. Then in the evenings when I can sit back, I rethink everything I've read and put it all together which applies in one form or another in my life.
So if I can come away with the knowledge that you post on, perhaps others can/should as well. Thank you for ALL you do and post!

by Crone (PM , CC ) on Monday July 7, 2008 @ 9:13 AM
Hi Crone !! I hope that your holiday was fun!! I live in a town that gets tourists from all over the world and it is funny to see how some of the shop owners and restaurant owners label people. The only generality about people from the south that I would make is that every southerner that I have met here in Salem, has been the most courteous people that you would ever want to meet. Always a please and thank you, if they walk up to you on the street to ask directions they always apologize for bothering you and thank you for the help. There is always a Sir and Maam in there too. I think that peoples desire to lump people together and brand them in a way makes others feel superior. Whenever you hear someone just label people by a group name or refer to an old stereotype, to me that only shows the persons ignorance. Everyone is different and thankfully so and to generalize about them because of where they are from or what color they are just displays that persons ignorance.
by AZRON (PM , CC ) on Monday July 7, 2008 @ 9:45 AM
((Kate)), I'm from up North, Northern Ky, but have lived here a total of 13 years. All of my children and grandchildren live here as well. The views alone makes me call this place home, and there is a certain spirituality within these mountains, know what I mean?
On any given eve, I can go out our back door and sit amongst our outdoor fire-pit and deeply meditate in utter silence and tranquility. As far as what you said about stereotyping, it does portray that persons ignorance, that is why I put on my post the picture that seems to be directed towards me/us. It matters not to me as I can take it, where the attackers cannot take what they dish out.
Ironic, isn't it? BUT alot of times I consider the source as I've said many a time when being harassed/attacked, my new outlook is ~Let It Go~, and it seems to be working. You can clearly see the comment from a blogger who stopped by here and I could hear the way it was portrayed on the comment. A snooty comment, gets a Karma filled response. LOL Have a good day.
by Secret (PM , CC ) on Monday July 7, 2008 @ 11:25 AM
You are most welcome Secret, You have interesting reads, and I get some people who I chat with on different blog sites. So I've decided to make the list so everyone can enjoy good reads. Have a good day.

Crone, I forgot to tell you my family’s considered rednecks and hillbillies as are most people that live in the small town that I live in. Stereotyping is wrong I know many rednecks and hillbillies, they are the nicest people you will ever meet.
